It looks pretty flat to me. What camera/lens did you shoot this with, and did you by any chance directly shoot it in B&W?

I am more concerned with the subject than the exposure...the flatness doesn't bother me. I just think you could do a better job with the composition.

It's not bad though...keep posting!

Ah, you shot analogue. Well, it's either your film, or your scanner. Did you scan the negs directly, or did you scan the printed picture?

Maybe EC can give some advice on what type of film to use, because that's out of my scope.

And last but not least: whatever it is you did, you can do a lot with Photoshop in order to enhance contrast.
Maybe a good film is enough though. I don't think EC processes his stuff once it's been scanned, and his work is pretty much well done.

It suprises me that you shot this with b&w film. What was your aperture and shutter speed? It looks like it's overexposed.
I figure you do not develop you own egs, do you? If you go to a cheap (drugstore) developper this would also be the result.
And third, check the settings of your scanner and work a bit with some photo editing if you want to make something out of this pic.

The subject is interesting enough and the compo isn't that bad at all given the circumstances. First try to work on your exposure settings and development quality.

A higher shutter speed would have helped.
